What are Airline Alliances?

An airline alliance is an agreement between two or more airlines to cooperate on a substantial level. This might include shared marketing efforts, codeshare flights, aviation livery and frequent flyer benefits that are provided consistently among all partner airlines. The benefits framework you can find below is the base, on which each airline individually adds additional benefits for their frequent flyer members.

You can not sign-up with an alliance program directly. You automatically participate within the alliance frequent flyer program by sign-up to an airline frequent flyer program.

Below you can find the list of status levels and benefits that count for all airline of the alliance. Based on this framework each individual airline adds additional services and benefits. Miles and More from Lufthansa for example allows lounge access for their Silver Status member when traveling with Lufthansa.
